Hey y'all......

Well, I first saw the short video clip below on "The Daily News" on E! tonight.

Then I saw it featured on one of the many media websites I visit.....ya know, the ones I surf when I should be doing something productive like laundry, cleaning the bathroom or flossing my teeth.

Hmmm.......

Let's just say, this one has viral video written all over it.

There was apparently a little "runway mishap" at a fashion show during Charleston Fashion Week 2008. (Not to be confused with the lesser-known New York Fashion Week).

It involved a proud boutique owner, who came out on the runway following the models.

Is it just me -- or does it seem awfully strange that when the poor gal falls......most of the audience (and even some of the models) don't even seem to flinch -- some people even......continue clapping.

! ! !

I mean, I like Blondie and their song "Call Me" as much as the next gal -- but seriously......that chick needed some assistance!

And then.....help appears, in the form of 3 strapping men -- then one of the rescuers goes down.

Yikes!

And where is she? She just disappears. I truly think the runway swallowed her whole.

Like I said: "Ouch!"

Random thought: Why, oh why.....couldn't that have been Naomi Campbell?

1969: First message is sent via ARPANET (precursor of the Internet).

1987: Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up hits Number 1 in the United Kingdom.

2005: YouTube lauches online.

June 20, 2006: First appearance of Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up video (as dubbed from VH1’s Pop-Up Video) appears on YouTube, uploaded by user belgianpassion. (As of April 2008, it has been viewed nearly 1.2 million times.)

March 29, 2007: The launch of the first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV. When heavy site traffic makes the video unavailable, a user on the Internet board 4chan changes the GTAIV link to the video for Never Gonna Give You Up. The Encyclopedia Dramatica pinpoints this as the first use of the Rickroll.

May 2007: “Rick Rolling” first begins to appear in Google Trends searches.

(Paul is one of my all-time faves.....he played at Springfest at Ohio University while I was there in the late 80's -- it was outside, rainy & muddy......he was totally awesome, and I've loved him ever since!).

Time To Share: A Web Series I Think You Might Like......

If you're a female with a funny bone.....a mom......or both.

Oh yeah -- if you're a male with a funny bone, you just might get a kick out of it as well.

It's called "In The Motherhood", and it's a web-based series sponsored by Suave and Sprint. It's basically a series of short funny episodes (usually under 7 min. or so....) starring a few familiar faces: Leah Remini ("King of Queens"), Chelsea Handler (E! Network's "Chelsea Lately") and in the second "season", Jenny McCarthy (uhhh.....she's Jim Carrey's current girlfriend?).

Anyways.....I read about this project when it first started back in June, and I finally checked it out. Boy am I glad I did. The episodes are short, but they are HI-larious! A few of them had me literally laughing out loud.

The hook of this whole "In The Motherhood" project is that they asked real moms to write in with their funny experiences as ideas for the episodes. They would post the stories on the "In The Motherhood" website, and other women could log on and read them and vote for their faves. The winning story ideas would be featured in future episodes......they even flew a few winners out to Hollywood to watch their episodes being filmed.

PLEASE NOTE.......these episodes are NOT just about moms and their kids. It's really about the relationships of the moms with each other, and discussing all of the wackiness of their lives.

One mom is a divorced mother of two (some episodes highlight her humorous attempts at dating), one is a married mom of one (with a truly classic mother herself -- you'll recognize her as well) and one is newly married to a divorced dad with 2 kids.

Jenny McCarthy shows up in later episodes as the divorced mom's "perfect" sister with the "perfect" marriage and "perfect" little girl. I must say, Jenny is very funny....as are all of the ladies.

OK -- enough explanation.

Check out the first episode of "In The Motherhood" below. It's about Mother's Day......I really think you'll enjoy it. At the very least..... I'm thinkin' you'll never look at Chap Stick quite the same way again!

Fabulous fun couple Fred and Sharon (and their AWESOME moviemaking skills.....) are just too much competition!

Please, please....if you want a little laugh today, I urge you to watch Fred and Sharon's 2 minute demo video below.

I believe they are serious.

I also believe they are nuttier than a fruitcake.

(Pay special attention to Sharon's line deliveries....I seriously think that Fred put something in her Kool-Aid, perhaps to aid him in getting her to wear that dress!)

Oscars 2008: Some Gorgeous Guys & Gals.....But A Rather Ho-Hum Night, If Ya Ask Me

I know I promised a full Oscar re-cap on Monday.....but yesterday I was still recovering from Sunday's late-night revelry (Gee, maybe I shouldn't have had 4 of my special "Red Carpet Rehab" martini's! ---- just joshin'!).

Honestly, I was merely too tired.....and somewhat UN-inspired by the rather boring Oscars red carpet and telecast.

Not enough funny on the show......and not enough crazy on the carpet (although that wacky guy Gary Busey did try valiantly to do his part! Did ya see him accost Ryan Seacrest and poor Jennifer Garner on the E! pre-show? Priceless.)

Anyways, this will be just a short post with a few pix and comments.....I'm actually working on a fun musical montage of the red carpet fashions -- the glam gals did show up, however boring they might have been.

Seriously.......where the heck is Bjork?

Bring back Bjork!

Heck, I would have even settled for Mork.

Oh well, maybe next year.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Mark Your Ballots....

Yay.....I'm so glad that the Oscar ceremony is actually happening. I was really worried there for awhile, when that writers' strike kept draggin' on and on and on......

OK, OK......I know Georgie's NOT gonna win tonight, but ya gotta admit -- he does look mighty fine in a tux, holdin' that Best Supporting Actor Oscar of his from Syriana.

Hmmm......I better get back on track and focus on the real potential Oscar winners for tonight --

If you've been reading my blog since last years' Oscars, you may remember that I was chosen to be a member of my local newspaper's Oscar-picking group....

CAMPP -- The Columbus Association of Motion Picture Pickers

Cute, huh?

This year they added 10 more movie-lovers to the group -- I think there are 40 of us now. 40 movie geeks of all ages that make it a point to watch as many of the nominated films as humanly possible (Gee, do I HATE that!)

We have "official" T-shirts to wear, and we meet yearly about a month before the Oscars to get our picture taken for the paper (The Columbus Dispatch) and gab about the movies. It's really a lot of fun, and I was more than thrilled to be chosen.

Our main purpose is to choose who we think SHOULD win in the 6 major catagories (4 acting, directing and best picture). We're then asked to write one or two short lines about why we chose who we did.

Last year, the paper printed one pick/quote from everyone. This year, because of our larger number of members, they said not everyone would get a pick printed in the paper.

Their recommendation?

Be brief, witty and brief. Oh yeah.....and did I mention that they said to be brief?

Seriously -- if you are a regular reader of this blog at all, you know that's one thing I'm NOT when I'm talking about movies.......brief.

Well, I just looked at this morning's paper.

Guess what? They DID choose one of my picks/quotes.

Yay!

Which one?

The most brief, of course:

Best Picture -- "(Juno)the only flick on the list that I've recommended to everyone."

Gee, so insightful and witty.

Hmmm.....upon closer inspection, I noticed that they happened to do a little creative editing with my pick -- my actual quote was:

"Juno -- a small film with a big heart, quirky characters you wish you knew... and you leave the theater with a song and a smile. The only flick on the list I’ve recommended to everyone."

Well, I guess that's what you call.....being "brief"-ed.

Hey.....I'm in the Sunday paper -- one more minute added to my 15 minutes of fame countdown (I think that brings me to 6).

OK, enough about that.

Now I'm gonna give ya my predictions about who I think WILL win tonight. Here they are (whether you want 'em or not.....) --

My Oscar picks:

Best Actor -- Daniel Day-Lewis (There Will Be Blood)

(Not much to say here....if he doesn't win, I'll be totally shocked -- along with the rest of Hollywood. I do think he deserves it.....I really hated this movie, but recognize that Daniel did an awesome job in it. Even Georgie says that Daniel's gonna take Oscar home. Georgie, on the other hand -- will probably take the coat-check girl/aspiring actress home.)

Best Actress -- Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose)

(This is a tough one, and kind of up in the air right now. Julie Christie had the early momentum, but I think Marion (the Frenchie) is gonna take this one in a surprise upset.....although I'd love to see Ellen Page win for Juno, just to see what she would say up there. Marion, Julie. Julie, Marion. Oh heck, I'm just gonna stick with Marion.)

Best Supporting Actor -- Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Men)

(Another one that Hollywood is counting on. He really is great in the flick, and how about that awesome page-boy haircut! Hal Holbrook has some sentimental votes, but I just don't think he has enough screen-time to steal this one away from the psychopathic killer who dominates a whole movie.)

Best Supporting Actress -- Amy Ryan (Gone, Baby Gone)

(Ryan is a stage actress and played a shady, skanky mother of a kidnapped child. She did a great job, you feel as if you are watching a real person....someone you never hope to meet. Tilda Swinton from Michael Clayton may steal this one out from under Ryan -- she has had the buzz lately, but I think Ryan's performance is just a little bit better, so I'm betting on her.)

Best Director -- Ethan Coen and Joel Coen (No Country For Old Men)

(This one is also pretty locked-up. These 2 very creative brothers make truly weird and wacky films -- Hello, Fargo.....a killer putting people in a wood-chipper? Yuck. Well, they definitely know what they are doing and Hollywood (and most actors) love them. That's a lot of votes. Also, No Country For Old Men was a very engrossing and suspenseful film. I liked it, some others did not (Yo, Jules -- I've got that $7 for ya). By the way, I also think the brothers will win for Best Adapted Screenplay and Film Editing. It'll be their night, for sure. )

Best Original Screenplay -- Diablo Cody (Juno)

(I really think this one is also a no-brainer. Whenever anyone talks about Juno -- and there has been an awful lot of talk about it these last few months....they always mention how fresh and witty it is. Fresh....that's Diablo, the ex-stripper/phone sex operator. She has become a kind of "It Girl Writer" in Hollywood right now....she is a little wacky, and not afraid of self-promotion. I think that's good. I also love the fact that in this writing catagory, 3 of the 5 nominees are women .....a first for the Oscars. Yay, I definitely think that's a step in the right direction -- especially if you look at most of the dreck in the theaters today! Let's have a few more films with a genuine feminine perspective out there, OK guys? I mean, gals. I mean....you know what I mean.)

Best Picture -- No Country For Old Men

(I think this one is sewn up too folks......doesn't seem to be anything out there stoppin' the Old Men train. Why? Just re-read what I wrote above about the Coen brothers and Javier Bardem. Hollywood loves this movie -- the cast, the writing, the directing.....the whole kit and caboodle. Middle America may not get it, or have even seen it.....but Oscar voters did. If this one doesn't take home the golden statue at the end of the night, I'll eat my page-boy wig.....standing next to a wood-chipper.)

Well, there ya have it. My Oscar predictions....for whatever they're worth (not much I'm guessin').

The Big Night Is Almost Here!

I'm gettin' pretty excited!

The Oscar telecast producer, director and Academy president held a press conference on Friday -- here are a few of the tidbits:

TALKING OSCAR: The 80th annual Academy Awards show promises lots of surprises and less than 3 1/2 hours running time, producer Gil Cates said Friday as he, director Louis J. Horvitz and film academy President Sid Ganis took questions from the press about Sunday's show.

Sitting beneath a clear plastic rain tent that shielded the red carpet and its occupants from drizzly skies, Cates promised a dry Oscar day.

"I'm confident the weather is going to be OK Sunday," he said, ignoring a current forecast to the contrary.

Viewers can also expect a thrill when they tune into the Academy Awards, Cates said, which will reflect Oscar's 80-year history.

Jack Nicholson and Keri Russell have been added to the roster of A-list presenters, he said, and the telecast will open with a 90-second film "that is arguably the most exciting piece of film that has ever opened an Oscar show."

Wow.....I always look forward to the show opening, that film sounds great. I'll also be interested in Jon Stewart's monologue -- especially since it is an election year, I'm sure he'll throw in a few political zingers as well. Should be interesting, hopefully funny!

The list of scheduled Oscar presenters for this year was also released recently. There are some good names on there, and some real head-scratchers.

The first four are a given.....last years' acting winners always present the same category, opposite gender.

Helen Mirren -- lookin' forward to the dress

Hope they're comin' and they just haven't released their names yet.

They have presented together twice in the past few years.....and both times have been hilarious.

(And one thing we can all agree on....the Oscar show needs more hilarity, that's for sure!)

(I love, love, love John Cusack here -- Lloyd Dobler...so funny, sweet and romantic in this flick! This very memorable scene.....the boombox, the song, the lovestruck boy under the window. Young love and young heartbreak. Perfect.)

Clip #2 - The Notebook

(A true tear-jerker/chick-flick...but c'mon, what about that kiss at the end of this clip, in the rain -- Yowza! And then you find out that Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were actually falling in love in real-life during the filming of this flick.....yep, makes it even better.)

Clip #3 - The Wedding Singer
(I'm not a huge fan of Adam Sandler, but I really liked him in this flick. Ya gotta admit, this scene on the plane, with Billy Idol, the sweet song -- and the adorable Drew Barrymore -- it's all pretty cute)

Clip #4 - One Fine Day
(One of my all-time faves....and not just because Georgie is in it, but that definitely helps! I think the chemistry between George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer here is awesome.....we keep waiting and wanting them to get together. We really root for that match to finally happen. They are truly both very likable and yummy here. This clip is actually the music video for the Kenny Loggins theme song from the film, "For The First Time." George and Michelle, running around New York City -- and Kenny Loggins singin' em a love song.....yep, doesn't get any better than that for this gal.) NOTE: Start this clip and then pause it for about 20 seconds or so to give it time to load. When the gray bar is about a quarter of the way across the bottom, re-start it.

Clip #5 - When Harry Met Sally
(OK, I saved my real fave for last....Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan with Frank Sinatra singin' "It Had To Be You" in the background. It's just....swell. How can you NOT love this flick? Meg is totally quirky and adorable, Billy is sweet, funny and slightly neurotic -- and you just know that they are meant to be together. My favorite line is near the middle of this clip.....you know the one, "I came here tonight, because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible." Ahhhh......gets me every time.

Saying "Hello" To My 10-Year-Old Self.....

It was 1974.

I was in love with David Cassidy then........

And I still get a kick out of him now.

Check out cute David (now 58 years young, and a little plastic surgery later.....) performing his big hit "I Think I Love You" on The Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday.

He may not sound as "fresh", but I couldn't stop grinning as I watched it.....it totally took me back to my Tiger Beat "tween" years.

How 'bout you gals -- any memories?

I'll never forget seeing David live at the Ohio State Fair in the early 70's. Jules and I were so excited. We lived for and loved The Partridge Family.

David was a good 2 hours late, arrived in a crazy whirlwind by helicopter.....and had all the girls screamin' and tryin' to bust down the fences to get to him.

It was awesome!

Ahhh......those were the days.

Check It Out: "Reel Geezers" Movie Reviews.... "No Country for Old Men"

Hey there y'all.......

I love, Love, LOVE the movie-reviewing duo in the clip above.....the "Reel Geezers". Marcia and Lorenzo....2 good friends and true Hollywood insiders with wonderful insight and witty repartee.

I recently discovered them on YouTube, and I just had to share.

I chose to post their video review of No Country For Old Men , because Jules and I just saw it yesterday. (Yay, I've now seen all the flix nominated for Best Picture....woo hoo!)

I really liked No Country...... Jules hated it....she told me I owe her $7 for making her go with me and sit through it.

Oh well -- you win some, you lose some.

Like I said, I liked the film -- it is very well-done and super-suspenseful, but I will also warn you, it is very, very violent. Lots of shooting and mega-bloodshed.

Javier Bardem's character (I'm bettin' he'll get the Oscar, by the way) is just totally spooky, creepy, nasty and evil. Hannibal Lecter ain't got 'nuthin on him, baby.

I'm not kidding when I say that he kills pretty much every person he comes in contact with. There were at least 3 times I had to turn my head, close my eyes and plug my ears. No lie......

OK, enough about me bein' a total wimp at the picture show.

Woo hoo!

It's almost that time again.......Oscar time!

(less than 3 weeks away)

Well -- that is, if the writers' strike ends or the writers agree NOT to picket the show, or if.....oh what the heck, who knows anything at this point?

I do know that the Academy has said they have a contingency plan in place, if the strike is still not settled by Oscar time.

I believe it involves some kind of a film retrospective "clip show", and an announcement of the winners.

Dear Lord, please don't make it be like that pitiful Golden Globes "dog and pony show" from a few weeks ago!

Check It Out: Singer Sara Bareilles and Me -- Just Hangin' Out At Best Buy!

Crazy ain't it?

Yep......I just posted about the lovely, young Sara B. (and her awesome debut album) a week ago Sunday -- remember, listening to her album "Little Voice" was helpin' me get over my crankiness about "no Golden Globes."

Anywho......

Lucky for me, my friends actually read this blog (not just tell me that they do....). That's how my good friend Katie knew that I was a big Sara Bareilles fan.

So when Katie heard on the radio Monday morning that Sara would be in Columbus at 6 pm on Tuesday evening to make an in-store appearance at a local Best Buy store (Hey, that's when you know you've REALLY made it!) -- Katie emailed me with the scoop.

Guess where I went.

Yep, Best Buy bound (in rush hour traffic) -- camera and videocam in hand.

Hey....I know blog material when I see it (or hear it, for that matter).

So Sara was great, she sang 3 songs......just her and her keyboard, up on a small platform stage -- smack dab in the middle of Best Buy -- between the large appliances and the DVD section.

You don't see that every day!

I had to laugh......there were more than a few people around who just happened to be shopping and wandered over to see what all of the fuss was about.

Overheard by a copy of "Die Hard 2":

"Hey, what's goin' on here?"
"I dunno, some singer is gonna sing."
"What's her name?"
"I dunno, I'm just here lookin' at video games."

Man, with fans like that.......

Anyways......here are a few (blurry) pictures of Sara singin' (sorry, I was tryin' NOT to dance -- you already know how I am about dancing!)

(I also took a little video of her singin' (hopefully, not as blurry) --I'll try to upload that later.)

Oh, and here's a pic of the CD that she signed for me.......(yeah, I know....I already had it, I downloaded it from iTunes a long time ago -- but seriously, I needed to have one with me for her to sign.....so I shelled out an extra $10.88 to Best Buy for the honor. Just call me supergeek!)

OK.....I'm gonna wrap this up by saying that I'm an even bigger fan now -- seriously, check out her tunes if you haven't already.....I think this gal is gonna be big.

She's seems very sweet and down-to-earth.....a truly gifted songwriter with a great voice to boot.

(Hey, and she ain't too big for her britches to play for a crowd of yokels next to a bunch of microwave ovens.....you go girl!)

Ya know......I was very happy that I only had to wait in line a few minutes for my "meet & greet"......and when I met her -- I gushed about how I love her music and of course I had to be a geek and mention that I write an entertainment blog and I had just posted a rave about her a week ago.

Sara smiled (Hey, that sounds like a song!) and said, "Oh....that's so sweet. Thank you very much!"

I was worried that might be some kind of code for: "Quick, get this crazy stalker lady away from me!" -- but luckily it wasn't.....and she kindly posed for a picture.

OK.......that's all for now.

I'll try to post some of my video later. Until then, I've got the music video for her first single "Love Song"....in case you haven't heard or seen it.

News Flash: I Think I May Have Found My Potential Dance Partner!

(Snarky doesn't even begin to describe him!)

Get this, he's my ideal "other man".......his nickname is "Buck", he has the most-watched entertainment show on YouTube ("What The Buck?") -- PLUS....he has his own wacky website and personal blog (BuckHollywood.com).

Darn.

Unfortunately, he lives in Connecticut......if he was a local, I seriously bet he would SO learn the Samba with me.

Oh well........I'll just watch and worship him from afar -- for now.

Just a warning -- ya gotta have a sense of humor (and a fairly large database of pop culture knowledge) to appreciate him. Basically, you'll either love him or hate him.

Ladies and Gentlemen, there's someone I'd like you to meet: Singer/Songwriter Sara Bareilles

OK......it's Sunday, January 13th.

Right about now, I should be getting all geared up to pop some popcorn, open a bottle of wine and settle in on the couch for a long afternoon and evening of red carpet-watching and lame award show banter.

Nope.

As you already know, one of my most favorite shows of the year -- The Golden Globe Awards --has been cancelled, apparently to be replaced with pre-taped interviews with some of the nominees and a press conference announcing the winners.

Whatever.

I'm bummin' .

But guess what? I found someone to cheer me up!

Her name is Sara Bareilles (pronounced: Bar-rell-is), and I'd love to introduce you to her.

Sara is a young singer/songwriter from Eureka, California......and she's awesome! She released her first album on a major label in July 2007.

I've been listening to her off and on for a few months now, and I popped her CD in today and it made me feel a little less cranky about the whole "no Golden Globes thing" -- so I thought I'd share with y'all.

Maybe you've already heard of her, or at least heard her first single --"Love Song" , on the radio. It seems to be getting quite a bit of airplay right now.

It's a fun pop song with a great hook that you just can't get out of your head.

Love that!

Ya know -- this girl not only sings great, she writes all of her own stuff as well. Some pop, some ballads....all pretty wonderful. (Can Hannah Montana say that? Don't think so!)

OK......enough of me singin' her praises. Check her out below in a couple of clips from YouTube.

The first video is "Love Song" (the peppy pop tune with the great hook). It's from Sara's appearance on "The Jimmy Kimmel Show" in October.

The second song is a beautiful tune called "Gravity", a song Sara says she wrote when she got her heart broken after her first serious relationship.

No Golden Globes? Oh bummer -- I love watchin' all those TV and movie stars get dressed up and actin' tipsy on national television!

Yep, it's official.

The Golden Globes telecast has officially been cancelled.

Ouch!

Apparently, as of yesterday afternoon -- the rumblings were that there will be some kind of "ceremony" where they announce the awards, and then some sort of press conference.

All UN-televised.

Seriously, what's the point?

No red carpet walking.....no Joan and Melissa, no E! and no crazy has-beens or wannabe-starlets, wearing some get-up that most of us civilians would never be caught dead in.

(Yes, I'm talkin' about you, Lara Flynn Boyle!)

From what I've read, it seems that NBC is trying desperately to salvage the night(this Sunday, January 13th). I even read where they might do some sort of highlight show from years past, and then a Dateline NBC special showing clips of the winners.

Nice try, but that isn't cheerin' me up much.

OK.....I'm totally on the side of the writers in this strike thing and all, but man --

no Golden Globes?

Shoot!

The Globes are my most favorite awards show. Way better than the Oscars -- cuz the celebs (Both motion picture AND televison) are so relaxed and always have much more fun(the free food and alcohol helps immensely!).

I just bet 'ol Steven Spielberg is totally PO'd.....

He was all set to receive the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille award. I'm sure they had Harrison and Hanks on standby for that little retrospective.

Darn it.

Hmmm....I just had a very scary thought......(no it doesn't involve George Clooney, an ex-cocktail waitress and a quickie wedding in Vegas.....heaven forbid!)

I'm thinkin' this Globes cancellation better not be a hint of things to come for the Oscars. I will not be a happy camper if that show gets scrapped as well.

I'm just sayin'.........

You may not know this....but I'm a gal who loves Hollywood and award shows so much, I started writing a blog called "Red Carpet Rehab."

(Oh, I guess you probably do know that already.)

Anyways.....move over Lindsay and Miss Brit -- I may have to actually enter rehab myself if they start takin' away all my award shows.

(It's so hard to control all of my celebrity red carpet snarkiness......)

Attention all Hollywood writers and producers: Get it together people! Work out your differences and get back to work.

Seriously, this isn't just fun and games anymore -- stop trying to see how big a beard you can grow.

There are important things in jeopardy.....awards to be given out, red carpets to walk.....and some VERY ugly dresses that need to be discussed.

OK -- I vented......I feel a little better now.

Here's the thing.

If we're gonna have to live with all of these whack reality and game shows until the writers come back......could somebody please revive the most ultra-awesome, crap-tastic celebrity reality show from my youth?

Forget "Dancing With The Stars".......

(Remember when he did those battery commercials with the battery on his shoulder: "C'mon, just knock it off....I dare ya.")

Psycho. Seriously.

Here's The Scoop: "August Rush" Is Truly Wonderful....And Big Girls DO Cry

Wow.

I don't know what to say.

And for me -- that's something.

On Saturday night I had the distinct pleasure of attending a sneak preview of the new film "August Rush". It officially opens this Wednesday, November 21st.

You may not have heard of it, but I've been aware of this film for a while....I saw the trailer online a few months ago, and I knew right away it was one to keep my eye on.

I don't want to get too chatty about this (which I tend to do.....), but in all honesty, 3 days later.....I'm still thinking about it.

Let me just say this......

I cried.

A lot.

More than I thought I would.

Actually.......more than I ever have in a theater as a grown-up.

Yep......

Not sobbing, mind you --

Just the kind of crying where big, wet tears form in the corner of your eyes and then start to fall silently down your cheek and you keep trying to wipe them away -- and you hope the stranger next to you doesn't think you're a geek.....then you're OK for a few minutes -- then, Ooops......here they come again, and you're wiping your face again, trying to be discreet -- but then you realize it's fruitless, so you just go ahead and cry already....and then the guy to your left glances over and realizes what you're doing, but then you see that he doesn't care....because he's trying not to cry also.

It's that kind of crying.

It's that kind of good.

Sweet, simple, musical and fable-like......."August Rush" is a movie not like anything out there right now (and I definitely mean that in a good way).

I'll be honest, I don't think this is a movie for everyone -- but I do have to say this..... if you watch it and it doesn't move you -- even just a little, I'm thinkin' the Grinch must have snuck in one night and stolen your heart.

I'm just sayin'.

Oh yeah......I'm also just sayin' this --

In regards to crying, that Freddie Highmore kid -- the one who plays "August Rush"........

He had me at "Hello".

Oy........does this kid know how to give a look. His facial expressions give new meaning to the phrase: "Tug at your heartstrings."

OK, enough about my emotional issues.....here's the plot, direct from the movie website --

Do You Like.....Quirky?

If you answered "Yes".....then you're gonna love "Juno".

What is "Juno"?

Well, if all of the movie scoop I've been reading lately is correct.......it's this year's "Little Miss Sunshine".

From what I've seen and read....."Juno" looks great.

A quirky indie film by a first-time screenwriter, centered around a smart and spunky young girl -- and the somewhat dysfunctional family and friends that orbit around her.

(See the "Sunshine" comparison?)

The flick has been playin' the festival circuit lately and won all sorts of raves. The critics love it. Audiences love it. Hollywood loves it.

Are you gonna love it?

Hmmmm.

I'm thinkin'....most of you -- probably. Some of you -- maybe. A few of you -- no.

Did I mention that the smart and spunky girl named "Juno" is trying to navigate high school, figure out her life..... and she just happens to be 16 and pregnant?

Oh.

(In other words, she ain't no cute bespectacled little cherub, driving in a van across the country with her crazy family, trying to win a beauty pageant by dancing around a stage to "SuperFreak".)

OK.

Did I mention the cast?

Jennifer Garner ("Alias"), Jason Bateman ("Arrested Development"), Allison Janney ("The West Wing"), Rainn Wilson ("The Office"), J.K. Simmons ("Law and Order"), Michael Cera ("SuperBad") and Ellen Page as "Juno".

Not bad.

Did I mention that the screenwriter is a 29-year-old gal named Diablo Cody? --

An attractive former stripper with tatoos and frequently multi-colored hair, who grew up in the middle-class Chicago suburbs and decided to change her name and chuck it all for a year of lap dances and a dream of writing.

Huh.

(So far, I'm enjoying the blog-writing hobby enough that I haven't considered an exotic dancing career path yet......I'll let ya know.)

OK.......so I think you'll be hearing a lot more about this little flick in the months to come -- especially around awards season (which is quickly approaching -- yay !).

"Juno" opens in limited release on December 5th, then goes wide not too long after that.

Don't know if it will be your cup of tea (or if it will even make any money), but I definitely think it looks smart, funny, dry, sweet, ornery and most definitely -- quirky.

Oh yeah.......and I'm thinkin' it's got "Oscar-Bait" stamped all over it.

I'm workin' on getting Gracie a role as the stunt double in--

"Because of Winn-Dixie: Part 2".

Unfortunately, her lack of motivation in the scenes I have been rehearsing with her lately don't bode well for her getting her SAG card anytime soon.

Oh well.

Hey.....isn't it time for a "Benji" remake? Maybe she's more of an action hero. I dunno, I told Gracie if she's gonna be picky..........the parts are gonna start dryin' up.

We gotta hit while the iron is hot. She's not gonna be this cute forever, ya know.

Plus, I think Hollywood is gonna start makin' a bunch of cute cat movies............I think I read that in the trades somewhere.

I know I've been absent from the blogging biz for awhile -- been workin' on my filmmaking obsession (more on that at a later date..............)

But -- I jumped back in the web water today because I really wanted to share this trailer for an upcoming film with y'all.

The movie is called "Evening" and it opens next Friday, June 29th.

It is most definitely a "chick flick".................and it looks awesome!

Hey there..........I'm back.

Quick question.

Has this ever happened to you?

You're drivin' in your car. It's a beautiful day. The sun is shinin', and you've got the radio blastin' -- listening to some oldies but goodies........LOUD.

I'm sure you've been there.

Well.......just the other day, I was doin' just that when a song came on that I really love.

As I turned it up and started to sing-along (and seriously frighten the driver next to me, I'm sure!).......I suddenly became inspired.

I started thinking about all of my friends (Hey, I'm talkin' about you guys......thank you very much!), and how great it is to have good friendships in our lives.

Being the crazy entertainment junkie that I am..........it also got me thinkin' about all of the great and funny friendships in some of the movies and TV shows that we all know and love.

Anyways, I came home and did what I like to do.......
ya know, in my "free time."

I whipped up a little video montage to that very song that I had blastin' on the radio........

How about some "Female" Pilots?

Happy Friday!
(Hang in there, the week is almost over!)

Well, I admit it.

I like to watch TV.

Yes.......I really love to go to the movies, but I also like to sit down at the end of a long day and watch something good on TV.

Ya know -- something funny, touching, dramatic, silly or escapist.

(No........I'm not talkin' about "The Search For The Next Pussycat Doll" !)

Because my viewing time is somewhat limited these days -- I know you all can relate,
I tend to be a little more choosy in what I get addicted to on......"The Idiot Box."

For example: I started out loving "24" when it first started.........now I have trouble keepin' up. Same thing with "Lost".

Too many people. Too many stories. Too much confusion.

You miss one ep...........and you're as lost as that big "Hurley" dude on the island.

("Hey, does anybody have any peanut butter?")

I didn't even get started with "Heroes". I know it's great, I've read all about it (and have even watched a little bit.....)I just can't keep up. It's just too much.

It's sad. Those are 2 really great "high concept" shows that I know I would like -- I just don't have enough time and effort in me to keep up with them consistently.

Yikes........am I lame or what?

Anyhow, what I'm gettin' at is this......half-hour sitcoms are much easier on me.

22 minutes......a few laughs.......(hopefully)........and no crazy terrorists or castaway backstories to keep track of.

I can do that.

As you probably already know -- I love, love, love............. "The Office".

Thursday nights at 8:30 pm............I know I'm gonna laugh.

It's a nice way to ease into the end of the week.

Now, what would really make me happy -- what I would really like to see.......are some more
female-centric half-hour comedies.

We've got plenty of men out there.

We've got: "Two and a Half Men", "My Name Is Earl", "The King of Queens", "How I Met Your Mother", etc, etc, etc..............

Off the top of my head, I can only think of 2 women right now who are tryin' to bring the funny.........

Betty (of "Ugly Betty") and Christine (of "The New Adventures of Old Christine").

Where are the ladies?

What happened to:

Lucy Ricardo, Mary Richards, Rhoda Morgenstern, Maude, Laverne and Shirley, The Golden Girls (My 13-year-old daughter Kate loves that show in reruns, by the way -- go figure!), Roseanne, etc, etc, etc.

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

Bring on the funny women!

We know they're out there.............and we know women are watching TV.

The ratings and buzz around shows like "Grey's Anatomy" definitely prove that.

Don't get me wrong -- I like television dramas(and some reality TV) as much as the next gal,
I just really want me some laughs too.

Well...........I have read about 2 Fall TV pilots that could be potentially funny, female-driven comedies.

Obviously, it's hard to really judge just based on a plot outline and a cast list........but I think that these 2 shows have some potential.

If you were a network honcho, and you heard these pitches............would you give 'em the green light?

OK...........I like this premise, it's different than anything else on TV right now........and
I think Christina Applegate could pull it off.

I definitely see her as a gal who people could hate, but now all of a sudden -- she's clueless and actually kinda nice............and throwin' everybody a curve ball.

I'm thinkin' Jean Smart is gonna play her mom.........that would be cool, she can bring the funny. I love her.

I dunno, just thought it sounded kinda new and fun -- we'll see.

DESCRIPTION:
You can run and you can hide but you can never escape...... who you were in high school. Becky Freeley thought she had left her teenage self behind when she returned to her old school to work as the guidance counselor. It wasn't until Lisa, her gorgeous former nemesis, joined the faculty that Becky realized her cover was blown.

In high school, Becky was an underachiever -- a social bottom feeder and a dork. Today, she's attractive, confident and has an admirer in the school's male nurse. Becky, however, has her eye on Tim, an earnest, single Spanish teacher. Unfortunately, so does Lisa. When Lisa was in high school, she was beautiful, popular and smart. While Becky pined secretly for Lisa's boyfriend, Lisa barely knew Becky existed. This time around, however, Becky is determined to prove that she has changed and to help her students have an easier time than she did.

In the pilot, Becky counsels a young girl in search of a date for the homecoming dance. At the same time, Becky is looking for a date for herself and must confront the fact that she hasn't changed as much as she thought she had. As the guidance counselor, Becky provides us with an inside look at the lives of both the students and faculty. More importantly, Becky has the opportunity to answer the question: If you could go back, knowing what you know

I feel the same about this pilot...........I think it sounds different than anything else on TV right now. Also, I love it when characters go "back to school" --- different than before, but maybe NOT so different after all.

(I love that Drew Barrymore movie Never Been Kissed, it kinda reminds me of that
a little bit).

Anyways, character actress Judy Greer is listed as the lead (you've seen her before, she does comedy and drama -- she played Jennifer Garner's buddy/co-worker in 13 Going on 30 ).

I like this casting choice because she's not typically beautiful, by Hollywood standards anyways. You could see her as an outsider in high school......and now she has more self-esteem.

The beautiful nemesis is played by Brooke Burns. Don't know if she is blonde or brunette now.......

She's been in a lot of low-level stuff........you've probably seen her before. But she is also somewhat known for being the ex-girlfriend of Bruce Willis (although -- I think that a lot of Hollywood gals can say that!)

Once again..........we'll see.

Yikes, I just looked at the clock -- and realized that I am going to be late for work if I don't wrap this baby up.

(And I'm never, ever late..............ouch, I think my nose is growing!)

As you can see, I could probably talk about this stuff all day!

More Pilots For Ya........

Well, as promised.....I have 2 more interesting TV pilots to fill ya in on today.

The first one is generating some buzz because the 2 stars are TV favorites, and they both come from well-loved and established shows.

BACK TO YOU (FOX)

filmed in early April)

DESCRIPTION:
In the 90s, the local TV news scene in Pittsburgh was dominated by one team: CHUCK DARLING (Kelsey Grammer, "Frasier," "Cheers") and KELLY CARR (Patricia Heaton, "Everybody Loves Raymond"). They had that elusive quality all news teams need:
chemistry ...... at least on-screen. Off-screen, Chuck was a bit of an egomaniacal womanizer, and Kelly a bit of an uptight know-it-all.

So -- when Chuck got the call to move up to a larger market, no tears were shed. Now, after an embarrassing newscast tirade ends up on the Internet, Chuck finds himself on the downswing career-wise. He's even questioning whether his lifestyle of chasing women and living in hotels is as exciting as it used to be. When he gets the call to return to Pittsburgh, to reunite with Kelly and try to take the newscast back to No. 1, it's an offer he can't refuse.

Now back in Pittsburgh, Chuck has a couple of new co-workers: MONTANA DIAZ HERRERA (Aimee Garcia, "A Lot Like Love"), the perky, sexy, somewhat inept weather anchor, and RYAN CHURCH (Paul Campbell, "Battlestar Galactica"), the overstressed news director. There are also familiar faces like MARSH McGINLEY (Fred Willard, "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," "Everybody Loves Raymond"), the affable, endlessly inappropriate sports anchor, and GARY CREZYZEWSKI, pronounced Kre-shoov-ski (Ty Burrell, "In Good Company," "Out of Practice"), the perennially put-upon field reporter who always seems to get left out in the snow.

But mostly, there's Kelly-- now a single mom to 10-year-old GRACIE (Laura Marano, "Without a Trace"). There was magic between them once. Can they find it again?

I do think this one sounds like it could be funny........

I really like Kelsey when he is at his bombastic best. He can be boorish, funny, smart and charming.

I also know some people are on the fence about Patty Heaton, but I think this sounds like a good role for her. I can see she and Kelsey sparring and playing well off of each other.

Hey.....they're both Emmy winners, it's worth a sample.

Also, I get a kick out of Fred Willard --

Watching him play an "endlessly inappropriate" anything, is usually better than most sitcom actors on TV right now.

Have you ever seen Best In Show? His take on the announcer at the dog show is priceless. Rent that baby!

OK........so keep an eye out this Fall for "Back To You" on FOX.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for this one. We'll see if they can create some
"Must-See TV" for me.

DIRTY SEXY MONEY (ABC) ...........Doncha just love the title?

OK...........this is one I really wanna watch. I sure hope it makes it to the Fall schedule.

I love that they are callin' this -- a "redheaded stepchild" to "Dallas" and "Dynasty".

Oh yeah...........I'm there, baby!

I also love Peter Krause -- "Sports Night" is one of my all-time favorite shows (the eps are now on DVD, I'd highly recommend it..........and I ain't no sports nut, by the way! It's just good stories, a great cast and really smart writing. Aaron Sorkin at his best.)

I think Peter will be great in the role of Nick, trying to pick-up the pieces of this very wealthy (and wacky) NYC family.

And how about Donald Sutherland as the patriarch?

Awesome............love him, love his voice. He really plays a good baddie.

And just guess who is playin' the young politico brother with presidential aspirations?

None other than that handsome Baldwin brother........Billy (that's "William" to you).

Hmmmm..............

I'm thinkin' they can get big brother Alec to do a cameo as a ruthless, muckraking tabloid reporter -- out to expose all of the dirty Darling family secrets.

("Pilot.........did somebody say, Pilot?")

Let's see......then maybe the family lawyer/Nick character -- digs up some good dirt on the reporter(guest-star Alec) instead --(Oh, I dunno.......custody battle transcripts, cell phone records -- something like that).

I'm seein' it.

Yep, Hollywood is workin' of those babies -- right now.

Casting 'em and filming 'em..........and hopin' they pick the ones you're gonna love.

Ya know.......... "Must-See TV".

The next "Heroes" and "Grey's Anatomy"...........not the next "Joey" and "Kidnapped."

ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, The CW and all the rest -- are hopin' they have some shows that are gonna make you stay home at night..........(or at least fire up the TiVo!).

Well, I've been surfin' the Net..........readin' about what they will be servin' up in the Fall. I must say, so far...........I'm seeing some stuff that doesn't look half bad.

Some interesting ideas, and some fun casts.

I decided that for the rest of this week, each day I will pick a few of the pilots that I thought sounded interesting -- and share some of the deets with y'all.

Here are the two for today:

"PUSHING DAISIES" (ABC)

DEVELOPMENT STAGE: ordered to pilot

DESCRIPTION:

It's "Once Upon A Time", and director Barry Sonnenfeld (Men In Black, Get Shorty, The Addams Family) and writer-producer Bryan Fuller ("Heroes," "Wonderfalls," "Dead Like Me") have created an unprecedented blend of romance, crime procedural and high-concept fantasy.

It is a love story about a young man with a very special gift.....the ability to return someone dead briefly back to life with just a simple touch. Ned, a mild-mannered baker of fabulous pies, discovered his gift as a child. Now he puts his gift to good use, working with his only friend, a private investigator, to crack murder cases by asking victims to name their killers.

But the tale gets complicated, as all tales do, when he saves his childhood sweetheart and she miraculously stays alive. Hmmmm...........maybe it's just me, but I thought this one kinda sounded fresh and interesting. I like quirky and sweet. There are enough straight CSI's and Law and Order's on TV right now.

I think this could be good if it's done well. The behind-the-scenes people definitely know what they're doin'. And I love Kristin Chenoweth.......she's a riot.

I hope it works. We'll see.

OK.........the basic info listed above is all that I know about this one -- but c'mon. The title, the plot, the people. How could ya not check that baby out?

A few key words make it a "Must-See" for me........Manhattan, rehab, Ohio, community service, dysfunctional and Laurie Metcalf.

Metcalf played Roseanne's sister Jackie on "Roseanne" and she is great. She can do drama or comedy and is usually the best thing in any scene that she is in.

Brian Kerwin is a character actor who I'm sure that you've seen in a lot of things, you just may not recognize his name.

Interestingly..........Kerwin played Jackie's boyfriend on "Roseanne" for a season. They were very good together. I'm thinkin' that they are cast in this as husband and wife.....parents to the rehab girl -- but I'm not positive about that. Just guessin'.

Why I Love......"The Office"

Yay...........It's Thursday -- and a new episode of "The Office" is on tonight!

I dunno about you all, but I've really missed Jim, Pam, Michael, Dwight and the rest of the crazy gang at "The Office."

The show has been in repeats for more than a few weeks, but it's finally back tonight.

I can't wait.

From the looks of the preview that I saw, Jim has to deal with the aftermath of Pam's confession to Roy that Jim kissed her on "Casino Night."

Yikes!

Roy is gonna go after Jim -- bigtime.

Oooooh..........it's gettin' good!

Because I'm excited for "The Office" return........I just thought I would post 2 short clips that illustrate what is so great about this very funny show.

"Trailer Park" Tuesday

Well, it's Tuesday -- so it's time for a little visit to..............
"The Trailer Park".

Let's see what we have for today.............

Because I'm still in a "Bond" kinda mood -- the first trailer I've chosen was created for an imaginary Bond film.

Too bad it's not for real -- I happen to think this one would do very well at the local multiplex.

The Next James Bond ............starring Tom Hanks.

FYI -- the creators of this trailer "mash-up" were very clever.

Daniel Craig (the new James Bond) was actually in a 2002 film with Tom Hanks...........
The Road To Perdition.

It's a somber film set during the Depression with Tom as a family man/hitman, Paul Newman as his mentor/boss, and Daniel Craig as Newman's bad seed son -- who's very jealous of Hanks. Jude Law is in it as well.

I liked this film.............but it is definitely NOT a feel-good flick. The cast is great -- but the story is a real downer. No happy endings here.

I love how this fake Bond trailer mixed in some scenes from Perdition and Casino Royale, along with other Hanks classics like: Bachelor Party, The Man With One Red Shoe, The DaVinci Code, Splash, Volunteers and Cast Away.

Hope you enjoyed it.

It's for the upcoming sequel to the 2003 Jim Carrey film Bruce Almighty..............

Evan Almighty -- starring one of my current favorite funny guys........Steve Carell.

Carell plays a modern-day Noah, whom God enlists to build an ark -- just in case a devastating flood develops.

This flick opens June 22nd.

Carell is pretty hot right now, so they have big hopes for this one.

We shall see.

The trailer looks kinda funny, hope the movie lives up to it.

5 Reasons To Rent: "Casino Royale"

Hey there everyone!

Well, it's the start of a new week, and time for the first installment of a new feature that I've decided to add to Red Carpet Rehab.

It's called: "5 Reasons To Rent" ...........

In this feature I'll choose a DVD (some new, some old) and you guessed it.......give you 5 good reasons why you should consider renting it (or even better -- borrow it free from the Public Library!).

As you know by now, with me -- it's all about the funny..........so don't go expectin' this to be too much of a straight movie recommendation.

I'm just sayin'.

OK, introductions are out of the way -- it's time for my first pick.

I just watched this one yesterday -- it recently came out on DVD, and I really enjoyed it.

5 Reasons To Rent: Casino Royale.

Number One

Bond --

James Bond.

British actor Daniel Craig is the new Bond, and I must say right here......he is Yum-mee with a capital "Y."

Now, this is not to say that he isn't also a great actor, very charismatic, quite believeable as Bond and knows his way around a great action sequence.

Mr. Craig is all of those things, and more.

I'm just sayin'..............................

He's definitely been diligent about a-usin' that gym membership......if ya know what I mean.

Number Two

The Settings --

There are many beautiful settings in this Bond installment. In fact, as in other Bond films -- many scenes are set in magnificent and exotic locales all over the world.

Fortunately for us, many of these exotic locales are near bodies...................

Oooops.............I mean -- bodies of water.

It makes sense, right?

I mean..........c'mon.

Approximately 71 percent of the earth is covered with water (Ahem...It pays to pay attention in Science class!).

So I was thinkin'.............maybe the next Bond flick could be set entirely on the water. It doesn't have to be the ocean. It could be lakes, ponds and streams for all I care.

Water is good, water is healthy.

Hmmmm.......an all-aquatic Bond adventure.

Oooops, sorry -- I digress.

On with the list.

Number Three

The Action

As in other classic Bond films before it, Casino Royale contains many jaw-dropping, heart-stopping action scenes.

The opening scene alone is worth the price of the rental.................

Our man Bond chases a suspect into (and onto) a huge building under construction somewhere in Uganda.

There's running and jumping and climbing and sliding and hitting and kicking and punching and hanging and falling and...........

Oh, you get the idea.

It's all very exciting.

In fact, if you are afraid of heights......it may be a little too exciting.

Hmmmmm........I'm thinkin' that the other action scenes might interest you more.

The indoor action scenes.

These scenes have less of the running and jumping and climbing and sliding..........and more of the bantering and hugging and kissing and.................

Oh, you get the idea.

Gotta love a good action movie!

Number Four

The Weapon --

Now, I'm no "weaponry expert".............but I gotta tell ya, there is a lot of gunfire in this film.

Basically, for every "Kiss, Kiss".........there's a "Bang, Bang."

And even though I am not a Bond afficionado, I can tell you this:

Mr. Bond has a very big gun.

Which, apparently...........

He likes to use..................

............. A lot!

I'm just sayin'.

Number Five

The Settings

Did I mention that a lot of this movie takes place in beautiful and exotic places in and around the water?

Oh, I did?

Huh.

What did you say?

I already used "Settings" as reason Number Two?

Oh.

Well, in that case................

I got nuthin'.

Oh wait -- here we go............

Bond + Water = Excellent Action/Adventure (and a little romance, to boot!).

Ooooops. I think I read that wrong.

Sorry...........she said it was a "Macrobiotic Diet."

Oh well.

Easy mistake.

C'mon......we are talkin' about a former junkie and lead singer of a band called "Hole."

By the way...........what's up with her knee?

Yuck!

Quarterback Peyton Manning was the host, and SNL created a very funny fake United Way Public Service Announcement for him.

Beware, some of the language is a little off-color (the real bad stuff is bleeped out), but the overall video is very funny.

We're Wet.....We're Wild.....We're Back From The Beach!

What's better than 7 days filled with sun, sand and seclusion?

7 days spent searching for sun, sand and seclusion...........that's what!

Hey y'all.............

Yes, we're back from an interesting week, visiting beautiful Ft. Lauderdale Beach.

Ya know, the anticipation for this trip was almost too much to bear.

Just the mere thought of a week filled with sunblock, peace and quiet and the occasional umbrella drink-- brought a huge smile to our faces.

Hmmm..............

What's that saying about "best-laid plans" ?

Howz-about I tell y'all a little story.

First of all, let me say this -- Ft. Lauderdale Beach is nice......................

-- Nice and popular, that is.

Ya know, at first we weren't sure that we liked the crowds. But by the second afternoon, it seemed to have thinned out a bit -- and we were able to find a good spot for a lounge chair and some serious sunning.

Yes, there we are.

I think you can just make us out...........see.....there, just behind that large red umbrella in the middle.

"Hey..........watch those elbows there buddy, and just pass the SPF 30, will ya?"

After much jockeying for the perfect lounge chair placement, we finally found out that we had chosen an area of the beach known for it's celebrity sightings.

Now, knowing me as you do..........you understand that nothing made me happier than this news.

After settling in, our fellow sun-worshippers regaled us with stories of the celebs they had seen over the past few days --

For example:

An ecstatic Angelina Jolie, playing jet-ski tag with
Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh and Pax
(We're not sure if those were her kids -- or the partners in a multi-cultural Miami law firm)

A fit and trim Matt Lauer, on location in Fort Lauderdale--

-- filming his upcoming infomercial titled: "Abs of Steel -- Matt's Middle-Age, Mid-Section Muscle Miracles!"

In addition, a somewhat less fit and trim Hulk Hogan, also on hand to film an infomercial.

His has the dubious title: "Hulk Hogan's Seriously Slenderizing 'See-Food Diet' --When U See Food, U Eat It!"

(I may be a little out of touch with the weight-loss industry, but I'm thinkin' the Hulkster ain't gonna break many sales records with that one. )

Unfortunately, we braved the crowds on that beach for 3 days, and never once caught sight of a celeb.

(Although we did meet quite a few sunbathers who looked remarkably like George Hamil-TAN .........

.........there were still no real celebs in the bunch!)

Determined to find a more secluded spot for sunning, we ventured futher south.......off the beaten track -- and found a sheltered, overgrown pathway to a somewhat deserted island.

Solitude at last!

We were thrilled with our discovery, and enjoying the peace and quiet, when all of a sudden a strange rag-tag group of people appeared on our small stretch of sand.

They seemed very confused about our arrival (and what year it was) , and kept muttering something about a "Three Hour Tour."

We tried our best to explain that we weren't interested in a tour, we just wanted to get some sun and a little peace and quiet.

Unfortunately, they wouldn't take "no" for an answer.

The goofy one that they called "Little Buddy" kept trying to distract us, while the one that was some kind of a "Professor" tried to grab our iPod and cell phones.

We were quick, but The Prof did run away with my new digital watch.

Nice!

Luckily, we managed to escape (in the cutest little boat named "S.S. Minnow" ) -- and we sailed our way over to the other side of the island.

Aaahhhh...........

Peace and quiet at last!

Nope.

Believe it or not............it was quiet for all of about 10 minutes, and then another rag-tag group of beachcombers descended upon us.

C'mon people -- all we wanted was a little fun in the Florida sun............

.............and instead we get these jokers.

They were so super serious, and started asking us all sorts of cryptic questions about "The Others" and "The Hatch" and did we push "The button" .............

And then they're all......... "Why aren't the ratings as good this year?" and "Why can't ABC come up with a better lead-in for us?" and finally....... "If we're on a deserted island without any food, how come Hurley is still so big?"

I mean seriously...........we thought their questions would never end. And lord knows..........I didn't have any answers!

Between our fruitless search for sun and seclusion, and this crazy cast of characters -- our quest for a peaceful vacation was starting to feel like a conspiracy or something.

Thinking fast, I distracted the mad mob ("Look, a rescue boat -- full of "Nielsen Families!" ) --and we ran like the wind toward the nearest deserted stretch of beach we could find.

Ya know what?

We found it................

A nice, quiet, secluded stretch of beach.

No people, no chairs, no wacky "Professors" or questioning mobs.

Perfect for sunning and sleeping the day away.

Unfortunately, there would be no sleeping the day away.

It didn't take long for us to figure out why this beach was so empty.................

After a mere moments consideration, we decided -- Oh what the heck, what's a little jet engine noise........when you can finally have a beautiful sunny beach, all to yourself?

(Actually, the noise wasn't all that bad.........once we figured out how to make those earplugs out of seaweed. I just knew that subscription to Martha Stewart Living would come in handy some day! )

Well, I'm happy to report that we decided to finish out our vacation on that lovely, secluded (somewhat noisy) stretch of Florida sand.

We took our chances with the possible loss of life, limb and hearing -- just to have a little solitude.

But ya know what?

It did start to get a little lonely.

I mean.....yes, we did have that low-flying jet aircraft buzzing by every hour on the hour........

But no one else to talk to.

That is......until the last day.

Amazingly, like a siren from the sea -- a lone sunbather emerged from the ocean and sat down next to us --

We happily spent our last full day on the beach with our new friend Borat, a fellow traveler from a far-away land called Kazakhstan.

Aside from his curious choice of swimwear, Borat's only annoying habit was to continually ask: "Do you know what time it is?"

Unfortunately, "The Professor" had stolen my watch.

"No, Borat.......as I told you the last 50 times you asked, we don't know what time it is."

And then, for the 50th time --

"That's OK ladies.............eeeez 'Sexy Time' ! "

Let's just say.....by the end of that day, it wasn't so hard saying "bye, bye" to Borat.............

....................and "hello" to home.

So now we're back in Ohio........with only fond memories from our event-filled week at the beach.

After all of that unexpected vacation excitement, I hope this week isn't going to seem too boring.

Oh wait, I almost forgot -- we did find something that last day on the beach, and we brought it home with us as a souvenir.

A little sparkly thing that had washed up on the sand..............

Hmmmm.............now where did I put that bottle?

I'm guessin' there will most likely be a few blog comments here and there............what can I say, it's an addiction (heck -- it ain't called "Rehab" fer nuthin'!).

Ya know, it may be only 35 degrees in Columbus -- but it almost feels as if I'm already there --

"I'll Take 'Dancing With The Stars' for $200 Alex........"

Huh?

I know, I know.........you're thinkin'.......... what the heck?

Was she on Jeopardy?

No -- not that smart.

Did she win some sort of crazy Conga contest in Canada?

Nope, never been there.

Did she pay her rent in LA by being an escort for aging game show hosts?

Heck no!
(I'm much too shy and reserved for that.)

No.......that's just a little 'ol photo reminder of my workin' girl days and my good buddy Alex Trebek.

Ya see -- back in the day (the late 80's, if you insist), I had the pleasure of working at a little company in LA called King World.

You may have heard of them.......they made their name syndicating Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and big Mama herself......The Oprah Winfrey Show. King World sold those shows (among others) to television stations all across the country.

I was lucky enough to work in the advertising and promotion department. Most of my days were spent dealing with photos, publicity and ad materials for the aforementioned shows.

You know I hated that!
(Just think if I woulda had the internet back then.......yikes!)

Anyways.......I still see pictures of Vanna in evening gowns and that darn letter board in my sleep!

I also have to say -- Pat Sajak's hair has not moved since 1988.

Seriously.

One more thing........I saw lots and lots of pictures from lots and lots of photo shoots with Miss Oprah back then. Believe you me........some good, some.................

Just plain bad.

Now, I'm not sayin' that I would do anything as crazy as keep the negatives from one of them bad photo sessions -- but, ya never know...........a girl's gotta eat.

Let's just say that I have the photo editor at the Enquirer on speed dial -- and we'll leave it at that.

What started me on this walk down memory lane was some emails that I've been tradin' back and forth with my good friend Teri in LA.

She was my boss back then. My boss and my friend.

Well, she's no longer my boss -- just my friend.

Boy.........we had some fun times at that King World -- I gotta tell ya.
(There are many funny stories..........but those will have to wait until another blog day).

Teri and I were just reminiscing....and it got me thinkin' about this photo shoot with Alex. I decided to go looking, and amazingly I found the pictures (no easy feat, believe me!).

That day, we had set-up a photo shoot with him, to get some new shots for Jeopardy publicity and ad materials.

Teri was nice enough to take me along, and I sat in the background checkin' everything out.

Here's where I gotta say that Alex really is a great guy. He's funny and charming and nice and handsome and..........not at all like the serious Mr. Smarty-Pants that he sometimes acts like on TV.

Well, Teri knew that my mom back in Ohio loved Alex.

So......at the end of the shoot, Teri says, "Hey Alex.....do you think you could take a photo with Kelly, so she can give it to her mom back in Ohio?"

One problem................

I didn't know she was gonna do that.

If you look closely at the photo -- hmmmm........on second thought, not too closely...........

I am about 6 different shades of red.

Alex -- Normal Flesh Tones.

Me -- Red As A Beet.

Nice!

Sooooo attractive, very subtle.

Gee, a room full of people -- and no one could tell that I was embarassed at all...........

What a geek!

Let's just say, I cautiously walked up to stand next to him to pose -- and he grabbed me and started dancing!

Seriously............

Dancing!

I'm thinking, "Let's stop before I burst into flames!"

(Here I am saying, "OK, that's great -- thank you so very much sir. I think we got it." Alex on the other hand is laughing and pointing at the photographer. I believe he was thinking -- "Is this hayseed for real? If she's this freaked out meeting me......imagine what she'd do if Bob Barker walked in!" )

Needless to say, Alex was a definite good sport, and the pictures were a big hit back in Ohio.

Me?

Well -- after I hurried into the shadows, cooled down and got my blood pressure back to normal......I was able to return to work.

And I darn well made sure not to go to any more photo shoots with Mr. Alex Trebek!

How About Some "Hairspray" ?

All of my talk yesterday about movie musicals sent me searching online to see if there was a trailer up yet for Hairspray -- it doesn't open in theatres until July 20th.

No trailer yet, but I did find the official website......and it does have a cute musical intro with one of the songs(sung by Queen Latifah), and lots of cute pix of the cast.

"Mamma Mia......Here I Go Again!"

So I just read online that plans are underway for the hit musical Mamma Mia to get the big-screen treatment.

I'm excited about this......even though I've never even seen the show.

Why?

Because the songs are awesome.........(I mean ABBA -- c'mon, those tunes are crazy-catchy! )

............and check out who they've signed to star in this extravaganza --

Yep....... Miss "Devil Wears Prada" Herself.........the mighty Meryl Streep........and..........

the very devilishly handsome and talented former "Bond.....James Bond" ............Pierce Brosnan.

Although I haven't seen the stage show, I do know the plot....and I think that these are 2 very interesting casting choices........therefore, I'm looking forward to this on the silver screen.

You may already know from reading this blog -- I love musicals. Broadway musicals, movie musicals.......... I'm a sucker for a good song and dance and a happily ever after. So sue me.

Unfortunately, Broadway muscials transferred to the big screen don't always work.

Just look at Dreamgirls. I was so looking forward to this flick.......but I thought that it fell a little flat. Don't get me wrong.......I liked the flick, and I loved Jennifer Hudson .......but in my eyes, it was just lacking something. I dunno......that extra Oooomph.

I am looking forward to the big-screen adaption of Hairspray, out this summer. I've already posted about this one before.

I loved the musical, and I can't wait to see my favorite guy from Grease (one of my all-time favorite movie musicals, OK, I have lots) -- Danny Zuko -- in drag, as big mama Edna Turnblad.

It may turn out badly, but I'm sure it won't be boring!

The songs and characters are really great, I hope I'm not disappointed.

We'll see.

I also want to mention the interesting trend that started a few years ago, where movies are being turned into musicals.

Some successful, some not.

Most of these you are probably familiar with, and may have even seen:

The Lion King, Beauty and The Beast, Tarzan, The Producers, The Wedding Singer, High Fidelity, Mary Poppins...........

and now.................. Legally Blonde.

I do think this is a film that could transfer well to musical theater.

Can't ya just see some cute pixie blonde as Elle Woods.....singin' her little sorority heart out to her tiny dog Bruiser, and pining for the boy that got away (by going to Harvard) ?

Broadway actress Laura Bell Bundy is originating the role of Elle in the show -- she was in the original cast of Hairspray and also in Wicked.

This show is set to open in early April on Broadway, and got good reviews in San Fran where they did previews. I've read a lot about it and it looks like it could be cute and fun.

Once again, we'll see.

Who knows -- I may just have told you about the next big thing to hit Broadway! (or in Bruiser's case.....the next little thing!)

Well...........that's all of my scoop for now.

I'm gonna go listen to some rockin' 80's tunes before I leave for work..........we're hittin' a local hot spot later to listen to an 80's cover band called The Reaganomics.

I've been tryin' to catch their act since this summer........and we're finally gonna see 'em tonight.

You all remember the 80's, and those early days of MTV........ya know.......when they actually showed something called music videos?

Well, The Reaganomics set list includes all the oldies but goodies:

As Promised.....Some Of My Oscar Party Pix!

Hey there........I know that I promised you all a peek into my famous Oscar Night viewing party. Well, it's taken me all week to sort through the photos......but I think I've put together a little portfolio that you just might enjoy.

You may remember, I ask all invited to try to dress-up for the event ......either with a movie-theme or in their best Red Carpet attire.

As you'll see......some guests really get into the spirit of the occasion!

I know you won't know everyone, so I'll try my best to caption them for you.............

Here are my neighbors and good friends, Abner and Gladys Kravitz. Don't they look great.....all dolled up as Jack and Rose from Titanic ? That make-up job is super.....you'd never know that they were in their mid-80's. Great job guys! By the way........you should have seen Abner get a little tipsy, jump up on my dining room table and yell...... "I'm King of the world!" I thought Gladys was gonna throttle him! (Actually, I thought Abner was gonna break a hip!)

Here is a shot of some crazy guests who decided to dress with the movie theme....... The Devil Wears Prada meets Shrek (Not to be confused with -- Godzilla Meets King Kong ). Now, I don't know about the Devil -- but that make-up job on Shrek is fantastic..... good show!

Here's my neighbor Madge Monroe, helping her friend Lupe LaHosa finish her champagne cocktail. Madge was so glam.......and in honor of big winner Helen Mirren, she decided to speak with a fake British accent all night. Lupe, although born and raised in Bexley, Ohio --surprisingly spoke with a very authentic Spanish accent. Go figure.

Here we have party guests James Taylor and Elizabeth Taylor. Honestly, those are their real names -- actual celebrities......at my party! James (aka: Jamie) looks a little worse for the wear, due to the fact that the lovely Liz (like the naughty Madge Monroe above) has been forcing her special recipe champagne cocktails on him all evening. Liz definitely knows her way around a liquor cabinet, if you know what I mean! I'm not sure what movie theme Jamie is dressed up as( Ernest Goes To Camp ?)....but La Liz is definitely glammed up and Red Carpet ready in her gorgeous retro polka-dot cocktail dress and Harry Winston jewels. C'est magnifique Leeeeez .....and keep those champagne cocktails a-comin'!

Ahhhhh......talk about soccer moms puttin' on the ritz! Check out my good friends Jan and Cheryl, enjoying a special moment during the festivities. Let's listen in:

Jan: You look fab!
Cheryl: No, you look fab!
Jan: No......you!
Cheryl: No......you!
Jan: Well, I love your necklace!
Cheryl: Well, I love your big 'ol bow!
Jan: Hmmm......is that necklace from TJ Maxx? I think I saw it there last week.
Cheryl: No.....but I did see your dress at Marshall's, they just didn't have my size.
Jan: You are soooo funny, that's what people always say about you.....you're soooo funny.
Cheryl: Gee, that's not exactly what they say about you.......
Jan: What?!
Cheryl: No, I mean......no one is saying anything about you.....I mean not tonight anyway.
Jan: What?!
Cheryl: Oh forget it. I think I see Liz Taylor over there, I need another one of her famous champagne cocktails. How 'bout you?
Jan: No, I think you've had enough.......I mean, I've had enough.......I mean.....oh screw it.......yeah, make it a double.

Those are two seriously fun chicks to have at a party. Later, they fired up the karaoke machine and sang a rousing duet to "Devil With The (Bad) Dress On." Awesome!

Also at the party, a few members of the cast of the East Columbus Community Theatre's ground-breaking production of the hit musical, "The Full Monty." Due to the lack of enough willing males at the audition -- it was decided that this production would be family-friendly and gender neutral. Men, women, kids, dogs -- but no stripping. Unfortunately, most reviewers have dubbed it: "The Dull Monty." Oh well......not everyone is willing to accept artistic change. I say, Bravo gang. Break a leg!

Speaking of actors, just look who was the life of my Oscar party.......my naughty friends EJ and Cy. These two happy fellas starred in last season's Short North Community Theatre production of "Back To Brokeback: A Musical Cowboy Extravaganza." Seriously, the guys were great.......and brought down down the house nightly with their emotional renditions of: "Climb Every (Brokeback) Mountain" and "Mamas, Please Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys." Such a treat!

Of course, every fun party has to have prizes. The best costume award went to my dog Gracie. She's actually a Black Lab.......but walked the Red Carpet dressed as her favorite movie hero --

Good job girl -- great costume!

Finally, here we have crazy party guests Jules and JJ. Luckily, these two fun gals attend the big party every year. Unfortunately, this year -- after having a few too many champagne cocktails -- they decided to perform a dramatic interpretation of the final scene from Thelma and Louise. I finally had to stop them when they took out a map and asked for the keys to my car. I've seen method acting before, but this was ridiculous. Save it for the silver screen ladies!

Well, as you can see..........another big Oscar Show -- another great party night.

It's always fun....... but I'm honestly thinking of moving the event to the Hyatt Grand Ballroom next year. You should have seen my bathroom when these people left --

-- seriously........were they raised by wolves?!

"The Best Of The Oscars: Part Deux"

Hey there.........I'm back, just needed a little rest after that long night of Oscar celebrating and all of the cyber-surfing afterwards.

Is the show over yet?

Yikes!

I've had some recent requests for comments on the Red Carpet attire from the Oscars. Don't worry, I'll get to that in a minute.

But first, I do want to give out a few more awards for parts of the show itself...........then we'll move on to the outfits.

Here goes:

Best Support of A Pop Star In Crisis

What's with Jumpin' Jack's big 'ol bald head?

When I first saw him in the Oscar audience (front and center of course, sunglasses and all), I thought, "Gee, how nice of him to show support for Brit Brit, and all that she is goin' through in rehab right now."

I mean, if there is anyone in La-La Land who knows about over-indulging.......I'm thinkin' Jack's the "go-to guy."

(I'm sure hopin' it's not because he wants to score a date with her. This is Jack after all......he does like 'em young ya know!)

Actually, I later found out that our boy Jack is a bald-headed wonder because he is currently filming a movie called The Bucket List.

Jack plays a terminal cancer patient in this flick directed by Rob Reiner.

Mr. Morgan Freeman............escape from the cancer ward and head out on a road trip with a wish-list of goals to complete before they die.

I dunno about you.........but I'm thinkin' there are gonna be seats for Jack, Morgan and Rob at the Oscar ceremony for this one next year. We'll see.

Best Humor By A Presenter

Robert Downey Jr.

I must admit, when I heard his name announced and saw him walk out with Naomi Watts (who's finally admitted that she is preggers with Liev Schreiber's lovechild, by the way.....) ................

I must admit I went.......... "Uhhhhg......."

I've never really been a Downey fan. Couldn't see what all the critical hoopla was about. And as we all know, he's definitely had his troubles with rehab and the law......but now he's -- "clean."

Anyways, all I gotta say is..........the writers wrote a funny line for him, and he delivered it with perfection.

They were presenting the award for Best Visual Effects.

It went something like this.............

Robert:

"Visual Effects: They enable us to see aliens, experience other universes, move in slow motion or watch spiders climbing high above the city landscape.

For me, just a typical weeknight in the mid-90's."

Classic.

Way to go Downey! I'm thinkin' I kinda like ya now.

Best "In Character" Award Presenters

Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep (from The Devil Wears Prada )

Anne and Emily stepped up to the podium to present the award for Best Costume Design (naturally!).

They quickly fell into their characters from the film, and a cute bit of banter about which one was supposed to get Meryl (their boss....the "Devil") her cappuccino before the Oscar show.

After a few accusations back and forth...... they both realized neither had done it, and cautiously addressed Madame Meryl (sitting front and center) in the audience with their apologies.

Right on cue, marvelous Meryl gave them both the classic, withering "death stare" that she perfected in the film.

It was a funny moment.........in a night that was otherwise mostly ho-hum.

Now.........on to the really fun awards........ for the Red Carpet attire!

I must say, most of the outfits on the Oscar Red Carpet were actually very nice.

Look at La Lopez ...............

Miss Thang looks positively Diva-licious, with that bling-encrusted neckline and cute short 'do.

Heck, even normally scary hubby Marc Anthony looks like he showered and stopped consorting with the undead for one night. I actually think his hair is clean and there is some real color in his face. Way to go!

I know, I know............go figure.

There are many pictures, all over the internet, of pretty girls in pretty dresses. It seems that these ladies actually put thought into what they should wear to the Oscars.

That definitely makes for a good photo op............but a very boring blog.

Just take a look at some of the winning looks:

Most Beautiful Dame

Dame Helen Mirren

This big winner looked gorgeous..........her hair was beautiful, her makeup flawless and that dress was fantastic. It was made for her personally by designer Christian LaCroix, and looked it. Honestly, she left a lot of younger gals in her dust. You go girl!

Glamorous Gwyneth Paltrow

Like Helen, here was a previous Oscar-winner who looked great as well. I loved her dress, it was unique without being wacky. Her makeup was beautiful and her hair was to die for! (Or is that, "to dye for") I don't know if all of that blondeness actually belongs to her.........(length or color) but she definitely looked great. Life as a mother of Moses and an Apple (and wife of a rock star) must agree with her.

Cate Blanchett

Another previous Oscar-winner......I really think that Cate looked great as well. She always seems to take fashion risks...........you'd never see her in something that looks like it belongs at the Junior Prom! I loved the metallic color and the simple lines of this gown. Her hair and makeup were flawless as well. Good show!

Ya know, all of the above lovelies have ties to that country "across the Pond." Must be something about playing a Queen (both Helen and Cate) or doing Shakespeare (all 3) that helps you in the fashion department.

I also notice that none of them look like they've visited the "Mystic Tan" parlor multiple times. See, pale is definitely in ladies. (I'm talkin' to you -- Paris and Jessica).

Back to the awards................

My award for Most Improved Nominee:

Miss Rinko Kikuchi from Babel.

Do ya remember her puffy poodle pink monstrosity of fluff and frills from the Globes? Yikes! Rinko definitely cleaned up her act.......left the pom-poms at home and shimmied herself into a beautiful black mermaid-style glamour gown.

Good job Rinko. By the way...........if you've seen Babel, you'll know what I mean when I say that it's actually just nice to see her in any clothes at all! Sheesh!

Now for some awards for the more disappointing gowns on the carpet:

Most Unflattering (yet Utilitarian)

Nicole Kidman

Nicole was a little off that night, in her long red sheath -- with the odd-shaped bow at the neck.

I must admit, I was surprised at Nicole's fashion choice. Usually she is one of the more glamorous ladies on the carpet. No question..........she has great style. And look at her, she's gorgeous (but I do think that she needs to eat a sandwich every now and then).

I really think that this dress choice was a purely selfless one. Her husband Keith Urban is just recently out of rehab, and decided to join her at the Oscars. Nicole is happy about this and decides to make the evening a little easier on Keith.

How better to keep him comfortable during the long show than to wear a dress/cup-holder for him to discreetly hide his beer.......oops, I mean ROOT beer. Just look up at that picture again....... you can't even see the Bud Light can in there. Good thinkin' Nic!

The next award ended in a tie................

Seriously? This dress to the Oscars? And then she had the nerve to brag that "Johnny" had picked it out for her. C'mon John.........you can do better than that.

This dress looks like some sort of 70's-era lounging nightgown to me........it's so shiny and satiny. And a leopard print to boot. Hello?

And if I'm not mistaken............doesn't it look like she is flashing the Star Trek Vulcan sign for "Hello"? Wait a minute, I'm confused. Are the Travoltas Vulcan or Scientologist? Or is that the same thing? I know they believe in "auditing", L. Ron Hubbard and hate Ritalin. Is Dr. Spock one of them too?

Oh well. Let's just say she looks like she's on her way to an awesome Scientologist Safari ......and leave it at that.

This photo was taken outside of the swanky Vanity Fair Oscar Viewing Party at Morton's Restaurant.

As you may have heard...........Suzanne recently lost her home in Malibu in a freak wildfire. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the blaze.......but Suzanne lost everything.

Everything, that is...........except this fabulous gown that she had saved for years.......since the wrap party from her first year as Chrissy Snow on "Three's Company."

In 1977.

That's 30 years ago people.

(Actually, I'm just kiddin' about where the gown is from. It could be brand new for all I know......Yikes! )

However, what I do know is this...................

I'm thinkin' that with all those "Thighmaster" profits, Miss Somers could afford to outfit herself is somethin' a little more Oscar-worthy...........and a little less like, I dunno....... a shiny walking wrist corsage?

But when Miss Thang sashayed her way up to the podium to present the Oscar for Best Actor -- you could just read the minds of everyone in the Kodak Theatre ............

"What in the heck was Ryan Phillipe thinkin'?"

Best Acting Award Upset

Alan Arkin - Winner, Best Actor In A Supporting Role for Little Miss Sunshine

Everybody thought Eddie Murphy would win this for his serious turn in Dreamgirls. The critics thought so. The fans thought so. Eddie thought so. Heck, even Alan Arkin thought so!

What a surprise then, when last year's Best Actress In A Supporting Role winner Rachel Weisz opened the envelope and read Alan Arkin's name.

Hmmmm................I'm thinkin' the Academy (i.e. Hollywood) is tellin' Eddie to think more seriously about his choice of film projects in the future.

I can just hear them sayin' :

"Hey Eddie, enjoy those box office receipts from Norbit, you ain't takin' Oscar home this year buddy!"

I'm thinkin' right about now, Eddie is definitely reconsidering Norbit.......and that eerily accurate tagline on the movie poster.................

("Have you ever made a really big mistake?")

Oh well...............maybe Eddie should just take some time off. Ya know -- relax a little bit, and prepare for the impending birth of his lovechild with "Scary Spice" Melanie Brown.

Ooops, I don't think 'ol Eddie has admitted to that one yet. We'll have to wait a few months and see.

Best Support of A Best Supporting Actress

Jennifer Hudson's Red Dress

Yikes! Did you see the Dreamgirls song medley with Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce and other cast members from the film?

Just a few thoughts:

#1 - Man, could they have made us wait any longer to see them perform?
#2 - Luckily, the Divas dueling it out through song was definitely worth waiting for.
#3 - Unfortunately, I missed some of it, as I had to briefly avert my eyes, for fear of a serious "wardrobe malfunction" with J Hud's dress!

Believe me, I completely understand that Jennifer was excited.....she did just win an Oscar and all.

But man..........there she was, boppin' and beltin' it out all around the stage, just singin' her heart out -- while in some serious danger of singin' a few other things "out" as well!

Hey Jen, that sparkly red dress was the bomb --

But all I can say is:

"Girl, you may have just won the Oscar....... but your left breast just almost said 'Howdy-Doo' to over a billion people!"

I dunno about you.............

But I'm lookin' forward to J Hud's next hit song.......... "And I Am Tellin' You.......... I'm Not Show'in!"

Ready Or Not......Here Are My Oscar Picks

Well..........the big show is only 2 days away.

I can hardly wait!

Once again, we're havin' about 12 people over for an Oscar viewing party. I'm not cookin'........... (Heavens, no!) just some good pizzas and a few really decadent desserts ( oh yeah...........and maybe some alcoholic beverages -- champagne cocktail, anyone?).

My real thrill is pulling together the games that we play during the commercials --

I've created an Oscar Edition "Name That Tune" , a big posterboard with color photos of female celebrities in their Oscar gowns for "Guess That Dress" (yes, all of their heads are cut off.....), I've got movie quote trivia sheets, Oscar trivia sheets and of course......everyone has to fill out a ballot.

I give out all sorts of fun prizes -- everything from microwave popcorn, theatre candy and movie posters............

to fake diamond jewelry and DVD's (both good AND bad!).

It's usually a lot of fun and everyone gets into the spirit of the evening.

It helps that I strongly encourage all invited to wear "movie-themed or Red Carpet attire."

(Man..........I sure wish Bjork could make it this year. There's nuthin' like a good "bird-over-the-neck dress" to put you in the Oscar party mood!)

I've been workin' on my outfit for this year........ (it is an "homage" to one of the major nominees). Can't tell you about it now......... I'm keepin' it on the QT.

And no, it's not this one either.........

(FYI -- that's from Pan's Labyrinth, up for Best Foreign Language Film.....among other noms).

Hmmm............actually -- for me, that costume above doesn't look like such a stretch! Yikes!!

Anyways, I plan to take lots and lots of pictures -- and I will post some of them on Monday's Oscar Recap Edition of Red Carpet Rehab.

I mean c'mon..............I live for this stuff!

I'm like a kid in a candy store!
